Calgary - Sunday 31 July

Sunday 31 July 2017

We got up early to have breakfast at Hari's house, so we arrived at 8:45 am and Hari prepared us a yummy one while we waited for Oliver to wake up. At last he woke up and it was love at first sight. for Ely - He is very bubbly, laughing and smiling at everything - lovely child.

After Oliver had his breakfast we went for a walk along the Bow River, taking with us Finnegan .The river and Prince's Island can be seen from my brother's house and it's a lovely part of the city.

We were surprised by the way the city has organised the embankment so there's ample space for walking, cycling , jogging, or just sitting alongside the river.  We walked about 1 hour and we then went across to Kensington, crossing the iconic Peace Bridge for lunch.

But we were met by hundreds of people all dressed in characters from Harry Potter books/films and everywhere was packed. The neighbourhood decided to become Diagon Alley to celebrate Harry Potter's birthday. Some Calgary businesses are serving up butterbeer, chocolate frogs and Hogwarts breakfast bennies. The wizarding world was taking over the shopping district of Kensington on the Sunday, transforming the area into Diagon Alley. View a galley of photos from the day via this link - gallery-harry-potter-mania-in-kensington. So not being able to find somewhere in Kensington we took a walk off to the side streets and found the Vendome Cafe. It was full but with no queues - and when finally got a table we had a great lunch - I'd recommend it highly.
.
In the afternoon we had a rest with Ravi in the apartment and the evening we went out for some good steak.
