Ottawa to Toronto: Tuesday 26 July 2016
Tuesday 26 July 2016
We got up and prepared the backpacks, ate breakfast before our departure to Toronto. As the train wasn't leaving until 15:30, we a few hours to kill so we went for a walk along the Rideau Canal and Landsdowne Park. It was a lovely morning , sun shining and the canal and the pathway was teeming with activity - ducks, boats, kayaks and people walking their dogs.
Something that caught our attention was that there are no stray dogs anywhere, and outside some houses people had put water and cookies for dogs being walked by their owners,
Off to Toronto a five hour journey. Although we've been to Toronto before , we were going to catch up with good friends and family. We we staying with Theo and Alex, who we first met 4 years ago. They were our couchsurfing hosts on our first visit. They have become our friends and we were looking forward to seeing with them. We were also going to see Maida, a friend from Santiago who is now living in Toronto and finally to meet up with my dear niece Keiisha.
We took the subway to Theo and Alex's house - they met us at the subway station, irst we were to we had a giant pizza and white wine, they also gave up their bed for us - it was so nice of them. Theo worked at the airport in HR and at the time Alex was studying for her nurses exams ( which she passed - I know she'll make a great nurse).
